Welcome to Dave Straayer's home in
cyberspace.
Well, it’s about time for another update! (Saturday, November 28, 2009)
After over a
year of being “dark”, I’ve finally got my website back up. When I bought new computers in the fall of
2008, I “promoted” my old Athlon to be the new server, and retired the old AMD
K6. But at the time, I didn’t bother to
bring up the web server software on my new server (I just used it for file and
printer serving on my home network.
Well, a cousin of mine, Russ Straayer in Champaign Illinois called me a
couple of weeks ago, and reminded me that others do occasionally visit my
website for the photo album.
So this has
been a weekend lost to network maintenance.
In order to get IIS running on the Athlon, I had to re-load Win XP Pro
(twice!), with all the attendant hair-pulling.
I should have done it long ago, a clean OS load makes a server run a lot
faster.
As of last spring, I am now a tenured instructor at Tacoma Community College, to teaching Math and Java.
Our address is:

My email address remains mail@dhstraayer.com,
Claudia’s is Claudia@dhstraayer.com,
and you’ve already found the website. J
Claudia’s website is here.

The Photo Gallery is now over 9000 images! It is maintained by an evolving program I am developing in Visual Basic. The program traverses a directory tree of images, building screen-sized copies for web viewing, plus "Proofsheet" images that allow you to click your way through the library. It also builds the HTML pages that link it all together to make the library accessible from the web.

The Photo Gallery is built by a VB hack I wrote, called Proofsheets. If you want a copy, write me. I haven’t done much with it lately, though.
